Y-Y-Yellow

Somehow, I surrounded myself with Asians. I myself am Asian, and obviously have an Asian family. My boyfriend is Asian (or more specifically, Korean). My best friends are Asian (or the majority of them). So therefore, I know a masssssssss of FOBS. For those of you that don't know what fobs are, it is an acronym for Fresh Off the Boat. It's basically a label for Asians that have just came from Asia to America. Typical traits include very bad accent, very odd clothing, and cluelessness about American culture. But honestly, some fobs are just so cute! Haha. And that's the prevailent opinion of the site, mymomisafob.com. It's a site of various conversations with their cute fobby moms, jokes of fobby moms, and stuff along those lines. It's just AWESOME! Haha, but seriously, it's a cute site which just cracks me up. So go & visit!

School in Prep Town

Yay, I started school Thursday.

Hopefully you know I'm joking.

My school is nothing like Gossip Girl (unfortunately) it's more like 90210. The styling in that show is terrible. Ahahaha. But I do love that show... Watched the addicting 2 hour premiere. Yay! Ahahaha.

Hope you guys (aka no one) had a good beginning of the school year!

I Party Like a Rockstar Everyday

...yeah, I wish. My life is pretty boring, especially during the summer- even if I am doing an internship and volunteering... I honestly can not wait to live in a city. It's been my goal in life since... forever. Or maybe it's just me. Maybe I'm not too exciting. And I'm a procrastinator. For example, right now, I should be editing my writing samples to send to Mochi, but what am I doing? Writing in my blog, of course.

So a basic run-down of everyday:
Monday
-my one day off haha
Tuesday
-internship 10-1
Wednesday
-internship 10-1
Thursday
-volunteer 10-4
Friday
-volunteer 10-4
Saturday
-volunteer 10-4
-bible study 6-10
Sunday
-church 2-5

I lead a boring life. Ah, oh well. I will actually go to a retreat this Sunday (!!!) and right after PRE-SEASON, BABYYY! If I make JV (our high school is incredibly good and competitive in field hockey) I will be super happy. So cross your fingers, loves! And after that, practicepracticepractice (if I make the team, of course) then SCHOOL! I am just THAT excited for Enriched math, bio, and just so so so much more fun! I want to know my schedule though... Our school is lame and doesn't send them out till last minute. Thanks, AHS.

I Just Love Them Scottish

I think inside all actors, there's a kid who secretly yearns to jump off buildings and say 'Yippeekayay, motherfucker!'
-James McAvoy

I fucking love James McAvoy.

Too bad he's married.

It's Stella-r Darling

I am in love with Stella McCartney's lingerie line. It's sheer, cute, and beautiful! I love Coco Blushing set (the picture) the most with the almost cartoon effect it has with the stars, but the beauty with the sheer fabric. Ah, but only if it was in my size. I am not quite a 32D or a large... And the worst thing is, it's on sale- the bra $112.50 and the panties $49.

Ah, why are you so cruel, net-a-porter?

Art is a Lie

My favorite mediums in art are watercolor, pencil, pastels, and sometimes, if done right, photography. I love all these because they can portray a whimsicality that is so rare these days, and is an absolute visual pleasure. So obviously I would love Lisa Kettell's Whimsical Watercolors set! It's beautiful and colorful and obviously, whimsical, which I absolutely adore. Go give your eyes a treat and look through this set like a madwoman (or maybe that's just me). My favorite was Sophie, the Mer-fairy of Cupcake Land!

new layout, bitches<3

How do you like my "new" layout? Yeah, not really new, but pizazzed some things up. P-retty chill, eh? More changes to come.

Greedy Little Monster

I finally got my hands on Vogue Italia! Mwuahah. And in New York City! It was a pain carrying it about, but alas, it was worth it.

Thursday, July 24, 2008

I've known you for three years and counting... I fell in love with you and your charming smile the first time we met. I kept on falling and falling till I can't get out anymore. It's too late. I think you see me as a little sister, but every night,I pray you wouldn't. Every night, I dream of being in your arms, my feelings finally at rest and at peace so that I don't have to continue this anymore. Sometimes I get the feeling you love me too, but soemtiems you are so distant I don't know anymore. I love you and will see you for 3 more years. Maybe by then, we can talk properly. Maybe by then, we can joke and laugh and play idiotic games just so that we want to, not to break the awkward silence. Best of luck this year, I know you'll need it. You always stumble and fall in whatever you do, yet you manage to laugh it off. That's one of the main reasons I love you so much. You have no idea. You will never ever see this, but I just wanted to get it off my chest. It's been pondering my heart for ages, and now here it is. MDK I love you.

I mean, the Croc--it looks like a plastic hoof. How can you take that seriously? I know it's comfortable; I understand that. But if you want to dress to feel as though you never got out of bed, don't get out of bed.
-Tim Gunn's thoughts on the worst fashion trends, in Time Magazine.

Copied from Fashionista- absolutely TRUE!

Naomi Campbell- diva legend

In this article, Naomi Campbell says how much she hates the lack of racial diversity in the catwalks. However, if I were to chose between her and Coco Rocha, it would definately be Coco Rocha.

Hopefully the reason is painfully obvious (hint: I could give a shit if Coco was white).

But there is so much publicity for black models. At least they have some shining hope to having more black models in the catwalks. But how about Asian? Middle Eastern? Hopefully, with more black models there would also be more racial diversity as whole.

One of my favorite models is Daul Kim, who's Korean and absolutely stunning. Not only is she beautiful, she seems like a very interesting person- her blog, I Like to Fork Myself, is evident of that. Her, along with several rising stars in the modeling industry, who aren't quite fair skinned, should get a chance too. They are as equally talented, and furthermore, is more than just a "nameless face".

I just wanted to get this out there since every fashion blog has a post like this. Haha, and to get another side to it, such as OTHER RACES. Yup, enough of my babbling. I would be surprised if anyone read this far! Hehe :)

Susannaaaaa!

I love Susie's voice! I wish I had a British drawl like hers. Check her little intro vid out- verrrry interesting.

Regular Posting? Is that possible?

Hopefully, I will prove less lazy than I tend to be. I really want to get started with this blogging thing (well at least before school starts) so I will try to regularly post (at least couple times a day). Hopefully I'll end up with a couple of people reading my blog regularly... I am not asking for a cult fanbase that certain blogs have (aka Style Bubble, the Sart, Fashionista) but you know, some readers would be nice. :) So it's my goal to strive to give you the best content possible.

And my goal begins... hopefully accomplished soon enough!

Hitchhiking... on planes...

These people do not refer to themselves as hitchhikers, of course, any more than a gold digger admits to being on the make. The old aphorism that one does not marry for money, but rather mingles with the rich and marries for love has useful applications when it comes to cadging rides on private jets.

Wow, lucky folks. Read the rest of the article here.

Se-chu-na

Browsing Korean shopping sites have always been one of my guilty pleasures. I just love looking through pleasantly styled clothes, fashioned with a sense of style similar to my own. One of my favorites, Sechuna, has a cute, preppy, girly, whimsical (and a bit lolita) kind of style- just my type. Maybe that's why I enjoy flicking through the items so much. Or maybe because Sechuna ships to US for a flat fee of $60. It may sound pricey, but if you order enough items, it does pay off. Which leads to my temptation... The site is entirely in Korean, which means if you don't speak a word, it is impossible to order. However, I am lucky enough to live under a roof in which lives two lovely parents who are fluent in Korean and therefore can order for me (as my Korean is pitiful, to say the least). I shall give in to my temptations soon enough, as I already compiled a list of items that are on my wishlist. A lot of the items are very cutesy and baby-ish and does not suit to many tastes. Therefore, it is pretty rare I find something of that style here in major chains, such as Forever21 or H&M, where it's all about what's in. Frankly, I could give a shit about what the hell's in. Sure, maybe if I like the trend, I'll buy into it. But my wardrobe isn't revolved around it. I buy what I like. Even if it gets bizarre stares from everyone around me.

Frankly, I like it.

Chardonayyyy

I drank about one spoonful of white wine, and I have the biggest headache right now. I'm not the type of girl, you see, who can hold her drink.

I would like some green tea boba, please.

What Everyone Wore Today

Susie Bubble has done it again. Her post, discussing about blogs that only post about what they wore that day, was so in depth and honest- I really admired her for it. And it got me to think, as a lot of my blogs I daily read is mainly composed of outfits. Is posting of outfits without descriptions fashion narcissism? Possibly. Yeah, obviously if someone says look at me, I'm so fashionable, as Susie put it, it is. But even if it is fashion narcissism, I thoroughly enjoy it, for reasons unkown.

What I see in a lot of people that post outfits is that they have a lack of self esteem in their style, and that they want to be reassured that they are fashionable. If that's the way they want to establish and form and be confident in their style, that is honestly the most foolish thing I have ever heard. What I do admire about posting outfits, however, is that it takes somewhat courage to post them. I mean, it is online- you can get as easily criticized as praised.

However, this is NOT the reason I am not posting outfits. It is because of pure laziness. HAHAHA. And I am not technologically advanced to take photos of myself and too cowardy to ask one of my friends to take a picture of me, fearing I will look like a narcissistic fool.

How ironic.

"She is among those turning their backs on ostentatious styling, and especially on the owlishly super-size frames popularized a few years back by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, in favor of scaled-down rectangles in bi-colored plastic, imitation tortoise shell, wood, titanium or even gold."

Funny... since MK and Ash were one of the few that introduced the popularity of the Ray Bans.

Shame on you NY Times... Really. I thought you knew better.

Tory Burch... the epitome of New England private school style

Out of all people, Tory Burch was won a CFDA award for accesory design. I find this incredibly ridiculous, since her designs aren't even that ingenious- she just puts her logos everywhere, therefore, making it popular. It really drives me insane when people like this win such high honors such as the CFDA award. Sure, they're popular, but are they truly a good design? Honestly, no. I could name dozens who should've won this award- Linda Farrow, for example. Quirky, and most of all, creative.

What's going wrong in this world?

Bloodstain

If you know me (or is very observant) I absolutely despise the color red. I don't know why, because red's quite a lovely color, and I am dearly stricken in love by its near relative, pink. But I think I look awful in red and I just don't like it for clothes. It's quite strange.

So obviously I was puzzled when I fell in love with this Marc by Marc dress. It's very gorgeous and retro. Too bad I'll never buy it with its $250 price tag.

Holy Shiznits YSL died!

Marc Jacobs Daisy was named Fragrance of the Year at the FiFi Awards in the women's luxury category. I personally have this perfume, and have to say it definately deserves it. Its aroma is absolutely heavenly! And the packaging is very cute too.

The one thing I didn't understand about hte FiFi Awards (which is like the Oscars for fragrances) is that Vera Wang was given the Hall of Fame Award. I absolutely despise the scent of Princess- it smells like stupid mall brats.

Agyness or not, this is the creepiest mannequin ever.

You know what I mean?

Style molds?

Should be studying... but oh well. I give up in school. :x I want to do outfit posts so badly, but something is hindering me. And my camera sucks.

ANYWAYS. I just wanted to pop in to say what I've been thinking lately. I was thinking about my style, and how much I want to be in a mold, yet I can't clearly find one. It's very strange. It's wierd first of all to want to be in a mold, but I don't know. I think it's very interesting. It sort of shows your psychological process and your mind. Sort of. Well at least to me. I really like that t-shirt, skirt, sneakers, and something really girly and kawaii look. And lately that's what I'm wearing... I haven't worn pants in a while (lol) and the only jeans I really like are my Erin Fetherston for Target ones- with heart shaped pockets which kind of fits into my 'category'. Dresses are cool, but too... I don't know feminine??? And restricted for my mischievious purposes. I love skirts... Need more...! I got like 5 in Korea in my one week there. Not even. Hahah... But I definately want to be more experimental and so I say bravo/brava to those who are- i.e. Susie Bubble! Hah, my favorite. :]

So my conclusion. Style, shmyle.

I Want: Do re mi fa so la ti do!

So my blogging is irregular to say the least... Oh well. I'm too busy, and who else reads this? Anyways... Lately I've really been into musical prints, such as keyboards, notes, etc. Yesterday, I even bought a keyboard t-shirt in Forever 21! It wasn't on the site though. :( I really want this sweatshirt from Delia's...

Androgyny? Psh, what androgyny?

The androgynous look is absolutely ALL the rage in our modern age we live in. But, unfortunately, my style is sooo far away from androgynous, it's pretty ridiculous.

I don't like pants. Okay, that sounded wrong. But I'm more of a dresses, or skirts kind of girl. Nothing wrong with that... But it was really hard to ignore all the pants/jeans obsession last season AND probably this season too. I mean we are women. I will never EVER power dress for this very reason. I mean, what better is a yellow, full skirted Bottega Veneta suit?

One of the hit shows of FW 08 were Boy by Band of Outsiders... Complete androgyny... and a lot press coverage.

Cute, but definately not my style. Wide leg pants or jeans really don't work for me at all. I am definately more of a babydoll-dress kind of a person. Lalala I don't look like a fool wearing a spring dress in the snow... Not at all... So obviously, one of my absolutely favorite shows of the season so far was RODARTE! Who else creates the perfect combination of grotesque-ness and ephemeral perfection?!

Perfect dresses that can never be worn again except on the runway, spidery tights that look like they wrapped around the models' legs, perfect spiky shoes... PERFECTION!

Both got a lot of coverage, and both deserved it! One day, mark my words, I am going to move my butt down to New York and go to the freakin' shows...

Forever 21 has done it again.

Proms, limos, and... poofy dresses!

I haven't been to prom (yet!) but I think one of the best things about it is that you get to wear the bestest and the fanciest dress in your high school years. I mean dances I guess you could wear some semi formal stuff, but we're talking poofy-ness to the max. I guess that's just me... My dream prom would include a veryyy poofy, bright colored dress, hot date (of course), and awesome techno dance music instead of the crappy hip hop that's in, I don't know, every freakin' minute of dances? Well, until then, I can drool at Betsey Johnson "prom" dresses for her S/S 08 show, which the theme was prom... This dress IS my future dress... Now where do I get the money...?

And then it fades to the dark...

I love the sheer draping of this Ann Valerie Hash dress. Beautiful. It's also sort of gradient, which I'm pretty much obsessed about. I bought a cardigan that is gradient and reminds me a lot of this Built by Wendy tee...

Nitrolicious has a picture of my lovely sweater here! I love her H&M posts. Too bad they have crap at my H&M (aka the one middle of nowhere...)

One stacked on top of the other...

In all the big magazines (Vogue, Bazaar, etc) colorblocking has been a BIG trend. And I'm in to it. It's pretty familiar, yet fresh. I want it in more vibrant colors than the one below, but it's sufficient. Heck, it's only $32! From American Apparel. :]

Much Love! Gossip Girl! <3

Okay, I admit it. I read Gossip Girl religiously, and absolutely love the It Girl. So obviously, I went on to watch the show. It's SO vastly different from the book, but it's okay. But the styling... is AMAZING! FABULOUS! I absolutely love it!!! Each character has a different personality and it definately shows through their clothes. Blair, the girly and luxurious, Serena who just exudes cool, and Jenny, cute. My favorite is definately Blair though...

Much better than Sex and the City...
